Decoding a “Quit My Job” Insight (Without Blowing Up Your Life)

What “quit” often really means

  • Value conflict: “I can’t do excellent work the way this place runs.”

  • Nervous-system boundary: “My body can’t keep paying this stress tax.”

  • Creative calling — “There’s work only I can do, and it’s calling.”

  • Belonging shift: “My people/mission are somewhere else.”

Hold “quit” as direction, not immediate instruction.

A quick body check (90 seconds)

  • Stand, feel feet.

  • Ask: “When I imagine staying 6 months, my body feels… (warm/cold, open/tight).”

  • Ask: “When I imagine leaving with a plan, my body feels…”

  • Pick the option that feels more regulated, not more exciting.

Two-week experiment menu (choose 2–3)

  • Boundary test (10 min): Draft the boundary you wish you had (hours, workload, focus-time). Try one tiny version this week.

  • Energy audit: Track 3 days: tasks that drain/restore. Aim for +1 restorative block/day.

  • Job sculpting: Propose a micro-swap (drop X, take Y) that lifts energy and value.

  • Creative hour: Protect 1 non-negotiable hour for the thing the download is pointing to.

  • Mentor call: One reality-check convo with someone who’s done your next move.

Money & runway

  • Fixed expenses, health insurance needs, minimum runway months.

  • Bridge options: internal transfer, 4-day week, contractor pilot, sabbatical/leave, or a timed job search (6–12 weeks).

  • If runway <3 months → build the bridge while staying. If ≥6 months + regulated body → you may be ready to plan an exit.

Art therapy prompts

  • The Inner Compass: Draw four arrows (Money, Health, Service, Joy). Let each arrow “speak” one sentence about what it needs.

  • The Bridge Image: Paint/doodle your bridge from “Here” to “There.” Label the planks (skills, references, portfolio, savings). Circle the missing plank to add first.

Journaling prompts

  1. If I could change one thing at work and stay 6 months, it would be…

  2. If I left, what would I miss? What would I not miss?

  3. The smallest experiment that proves I’m serious about the new path is… \

  4. What am I afraid people will think? What do I think of people who choose nervous-system health?

  5. What does “enough” look like for the next 90 days (money, rest, support)?

Shamanically-informed timing

Common threads across many lineages: right timing, community counsel, reciprocity, signs.

  • Right timing: Act when breath is steady and sleep is consistent.

  • Counsel: Ask elders/mentors from your tradition/community.

  • Reciprocity: Make one offering (time, kindness, land care) while you ask for guidance.

  • Sign practice: Sit in nature for 10 minutes; ask one clear question; note body sensations. Let patterns (not one omen) guide.

A closing blessing

May the download be direction, not pressure.

May your body be steady and your choices come from Self—calm, clear, compassionate.
